Location:
Mendocino Village
Description:
Described by guests as
"one of the best places to kiss in Northern
California," the Headlands Inn Bed & Breakfast
in Mendocino Village is a place you won't want to
leave. It is located within walking distance to all
Mendocino has to offer.
Built in 1868 as a small
barbershop on Main Street, this charming inn has
changed with the times. The second story was added
in 1873 to provide living quarters for the barber
and his family. In 1884 the building became a "high
class" restaurant. The owner at that time used the
upstairs as an annex to The Wilson Hotel. In 1893
the building was moved to the present location on
the corner of Howard and Albion Streets,
transported by horses pulling the house over logs
used as rollers! More recently the house has been a
private home and now a bed and breakfast
inn.
Included in the room rate
is an exceptionally creative full hot breakfast
served on English china and delivered to the rooms
on trays with fresh flowers, preceded by a
newspaper. Wireless internet is available. The six
rooms and the cottage have private baths and
wood-burning fireplaces, fresh flowers and bedside
chocolates, cotton robes and, of course, the sound
of the ocean to go to sleep by!
